You think it’s easy, but…
18 May
Working by remote takes far more discipline than I expected. My Sydney trip was slightly easier because I worked from the office there.
One glich, though: Our hotel only had one LAN cable outlet so the kangaroo had priority because he had more pressing, time-sensitive matters to deal with.
What did I do? I just hung around and read my book. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to work but I needed to be online to get any progress.
I realized that so I prepared a few pages of notes for articles that could be written offline if I got caught in such a situation again. I felt productive tapping out in the airport lounge while waiting for my flight.
But this Singapore trip is proving impossible to get any serious work done. There is always someone to meet or an errand to run. It is a short trip so my hours are packed with non work-related appointments. I feel enormously guilty but then how often do I see my family and friends, right?
I’ll just make up for it this weekend and catch pockets of idle time.
