Where have I been?
19 Sep
Today I’m going to do what blogging advice gurus tell you not to do: explain why I, the blogger, have been away. And get a bit more personal.
But dear reader, I’m sure you must be wondering a little what I have been up to and why this beloved space has become a bit sparse recently. Especially since I promised some meaty updates on how awesome my summer was in Japan.
While I was not abducted by aliens like the first lady, I was kidnapped by work at BB headquarters.
It is always a conundrum when work becomes busy. More sales = more revenue, but this means less time = less blogging. There were moments I wished I had less to do but that would be whining like an underachiever, and you know, I am not one to embrace such notions. I have been socialising more, hooping, being present in my offline reality, travelling, teaching, and trying to get enough sleep.
I’ve not been very raw today but I’m quite chuffed that prominent bento blog Just Bento listed my fledgling Raw Bento blog on their blogroll recently. Bentos are exploding in America, according to the New York Times, and I’m glad that this is not just a Japanesey thing to do. It’s simply a great idea.
Why am I not very raw today? Well, as the ebb and flow of being a regular human being, my iron-cast will has been swayed by exhaustion and I just wanted some pasta. I want to say that being vegan is not a straight path and some of us do fall by the way side once in a while. Cheese and gluten are physically addictive. I had some but tomorrow is another day to be raw and feel fresh. Enough about my diet. It may well be something I am very into but it is still not the most defining thread in my life. It’s a lot about the food, but life is really not about the food.
So, what will you expect in Lioness in Japan in the coming weeks?
+ “Camping” in Naga-toro, a small town in Chichibu, Saitama. I don’t know why some folks sneer at this huge suburban/rural area in Greater Tokyo — it’s absolutely quaint and gorgeous!
+ A long weekend in Hiroshima.
+ Azabu Juban Matusuri, which is not quite a typical Japanese festival with traditional dancing. Just lots of food. I know some of you out there love my Japanese food pictures.
+ My raw dinner at Manna. Though I do have a separate blog to wax lyrical about all things raw, I think there are some readers here who are interested to read about my raw vegan lifestyle. You will be surprised at the number of emails I receive on this topic.
I have some posts brewing and will preserve a touch of mystery as to what else I will write about. For now, I’ll leave you with a few random blogs I enjoy while I snatch a few moments of me-time before bed: click here, here, and here.
