Tokyo Nugget #5: Heat pad covers
12 Jan
I’ve blogged about heat pads, or hokkairo, before and it’s a nifty Japanese invention for cold, windy days.
Since I’ve been back in icy Tokyo, I did toss a couple of hokkairo in the futon and my skin got a little burnt when my PJs got hiked up and exposed skin while I was sleeping. I realized the error of my ways and found that the pharmacies sell hokkairo covers.
Check out the cute sleeve behind the face…
Since it’s so chilly, I got another one.
It gets nice and toasty in the futon. You can still feel the warmth of the heat pad even though it is tucked into a cover. It’s probably for kids or Japanese women who love all things kawaii but I can sleep in peace now.
*By the way, I saw tiny hokkairo for dogs and cats. Too adorable.

Wahh…they are sooo cute! I brought a bunch of the heat pads from TK when I left back for Boston and still have loads, but now I’m in a hot country! And guess who was the one who introduced them to me? Nozaki-san!
Aren’t they? It’s a super cold winter in Tokyo and wouldn’t be able to survive without these…
Haha, I rem Nozaki-san would sit on one hokkairo as we have a lesson, but his office heater would be on full blast.
I love these little covers–I keep meaning to get some. I didn’t know that they make them for dogs and cats, though!
Yeah they sell them at Tomods. Go check ‘em out
