Tokyo Nugget #17: Shrines for speed-dating

You read that right. A “love” shrine north of Asakusa in Tokyo holds praying-speed-dating events for those seeking a mate, also called konkatsu (matchmaking) in Japanese.

Going onto the Internet and signing up with a discreet dating agency are pretty normal in huge cities where love is truly hard to find. But shrines are a new one to me…Read all about it here.

    i bought a love charm/talisman thing for my friend at the mt fuji shrine when he was going thr a rough break up … and now he’s happily married (to a different girl fr the one he broke up with) and has a baby too! i think it works hahaa. :D

    Aw that was nice of you! Sounds like your friend had an happy ending there. I’m a little sceptical if they work but some of them actually look very pretty.
