Who am I...?

I'm a web editor from Singapore living in Tokyo. I'm building websites for a living as a writer on the go. I worked in print media for six years until I moved countries and used the Internet as a way to have a viable, mobile career. The Internet is a fascinating space and I never thought I would ever morph into a web chick - but here I am.

This blog is about...

...The ups and downs of expat life, trailing partner issues, food, travel, and Japanese culture. It's a way to keep in touch with friends back home and all over the world, plus it's a corner for me to showcase my work. But really, I'm just a restless spirit looking for great adventures and fabulous food.

Sydney rocks

The kangaroo is snoring. I can’t sleep because my body still thinks it’s in Japan time. I don’t sleep earlier than midnight most days. Funny though — I was nodding off during an exciting episode of The Shield and missed an important sting operation.

Must be the booze hitting the snooze alarm so I decided to get up and type something. Hopefully I will fall asleep soon.

Spent the day at Manly Beach with Alessia, Mr. D’s sister-on-law and his brother Charles’ wife. I loved the warm sunrays on my skin and do you know the sun sets here at 8pm? And 9pm deeper into the summer. No wonder people are so happy here. I’m glad to leave behind 430pm sunsets for a while.

Had dinner and drinks with Mindy and Marty’s friends at Chelsea, a pub near Mr. D’s office in Chatswood. I’ll probably be on my own a fair bit because he’s going to work in the day before and after xmas. Alessia showed me how to take the bus, plus I’m going to accompany Mindy on her house hunting expedition so I look forward to really getting to know Sydney better.

I never fail to be amazed at the amount Aussies drink. Mr. D had a 12-hour xmas lunch yesterday with his colleagues. I KOed at 6pm.

This was how drunk he was. Check out the SMS he sent me:

“Hesigning home soon babexp..Maybe very drink… But home soon.”

He claimed amnesia. We had a big laugh over this.
