Out of breath, but not moving
20 Feb
Do you ever feel you’re moving and moving but you’re not accomplishing much? After too many coffees and three visitors over the weekend, I’m friggin tired.
I suppose I have moments of guilt where I feel I should be more productive but I choose to have fun over that. That’s a freelance pitfall. If there’s nothing pressing, why not push it aside just one more day. In an office with project deadlines, you don’t just drop everything and take a hike whenever you please.
That said though, I’ve seen a lot of Tokyo than I would’ve alone. I’ve now been to Tokyo Dome, where all the baseball matches are played, the famous Bape café in Harajuku (a trendy joint opened by the Bathing Ape designer Nigo), the rudest sushi train restaurant in the world and the quieter back streets of Shibuya.
Apologies for the lack for photos but it has felt frantic with sightseeing and catching up.
On the Japanese front, I had to think up of a short speech based on my favourite saying or proverb. Muzukashi desu ne (Difficult!)… I chose: “Take the road less travelled.” Without reminding myself of this everyday, I would be lost.
Anyway, I’m more committed to my course this term — I try to keep up with the homework, I’m punctual and I’m not missing as many classes as I was last term. I’ve taken to tune into Japanese vocabulary drills while I jog. I still struggle to remember the words I’ve learned. Instead of “checku onagaishimasu” (cheque, please), I really should say “kaikei onagaishimasu” (bill, please). The cat always catches my tongue, but be assured I’ve got a lot more in my brain than anywhere else :p
I’m off to make steaks for the kangaroo and me.
