Who am I...?

An ex-journo and former techno phobe from Singapore living in Tokyo, I worked in print media for six years until I moved countries in 2006 and used the Internet as a way to have a viable, mobile career. Now, I'm a blogger on the go who runs an online beauty biz from wherever I might be. I never thought I would ever morph into a web chick - but here I am.

This blog is about...

...The ups and downs of expat life, trailing partner issues, food, travel, and Japanese culture. It's a way to keep in touch with friends back home and all over the world, plus it's a corner for me to showcase my work. But really, I'm just a restless spirit looking for great adventures and fabulous food.

Look at what I got in the mail…

One of the perks of living overseas and shopping online is I get awesome mail sometimes. BUT I stopped shopping online for things that I was addicted to but if I see a good deal I would grab it.

Indeed, times are bleak and opening up my news alerts every morning is depressing with the global economy tanking. It’s no wonder that everyone in the blogosphere is dishing out posts about saving money, living the frugal life, and tips to cut corners. This stuff is certainly on my mind, too.

So today, I’ll do my bit by saying, “Christmas doesn’t have to be expensive!” Check out iloveaglaia’s cheap and chic accessories.

I got two necklaces for about SGD20 that were part of her clearance sale, but the gold leaf necklace and the wing pendant were an early Chrissy pressie from Ambien.

These are part of her new collection. I’m glad she revived her accessories blog shop because she makes lovely one-of-a-kind pieces at affordable prices. She once made a black beaded necklace with a Scottie diamente pendant for me (the Scottie is the kangaroo’s family dog) and his Aussie friends in Hong Kong gushed over it.

Anyway, this babe has been doing business since we were 15, where she made hair scrunchies from her bedroom in Marine Parade, and sold them at two bucks a pop to all our classmates. So it’s no wonder I tap her brains for business ideas these days!
