I heart steamboat
27 Apr
My trip back home felt like a superb holiday. Funny, though, I sorta felt like a tourist in my own country. Everything felt familiar but new.
Anyway, I decided to be selective about people to see and things to do as it was a short trip.
I thought I would miss fiery dishes like sambal squid and laksa but what I wanted to taste was steamboat. I love the all-you-can-eat concept, it’s healthy and it’s a communal way of eating.
My old gals trundled along with me to Bugis to a Shanghainese joint, which had my favourite Sichuan soup with chicken/pork bone broth. Ahh…. The memory of the tasty flavours makes me want to jump on a plane back.
Like time never stopped, we yabbed away like I never went away. I love laughing with this bunch because they always make me look at life in a light-hearted jokey way. We stuffed ourselves silly. Did I mention this is also my foodie group? We used to restaurant hop or go back to old faves.
Azure and me: grinning at the camera despite sweating like pigs over the hot pot.
Ambien and I did the Japanesey bunny fingers – it was sooooo funny to pose for pictures like this.
After dinner, we still had space for dessert so we mosied over to More Than Just Desserts, a Taiwanese café a friend introduced to me at Zion Road just before I left. Now, they have a branch in Bugis.
Creamy almond dessert with sticky sesame balls…..Oiishi!!
Iced wolfberry drink to wash down all the heatiness. Ahhhhh…
