Found a little tree house in Harajuku
13 Aug
Hideaway Café & Bar is a cozy nook away from the craziness of the crowds in Omotesando and Harajuku on a weekend. What’s special about it is the café has a thick tree in the middle of its premises. The canopy sticks out above the building. I would not have discovered it if not for the fact a friend’s farewell gathering was held there — I could see why she wanted to say goodbye from such a quirky corner of Tokyo.
Tucked away two doors down from Design Festa, this is indeed a hidden gem. You can literally spend a few hours browsing through its large collection of tree house books over a cuppa or beer.
For lunch, I had the veggie curry and brown rice set for a mere 900JPY.
Their menu is quite small but one thing that would grab your attention is their hemp udon. I wanted to try it but it came with fish eggs and it seemed if you did away with the eggs, you would only have ume (plum) as the main ingredient. I like ume but not that much…
This a picture of what it looks like from the outside if you ever want to look for this lil’ joint. You can also read a review in English here.
