Who am I...?

I'm a web editor from Singapore living in Tokyo. I'm building websites for a living as a writer on the go. I worked in print media for six years until I moved countries and used the Internet as a way to have a viable, mobile career. The Internet is a fascinating space and I never thought I would ever morph into a web chick - but here I am.

This blog is about...

...The ups and downs of expat life, trailing partner issues, food, travel, and Japanese culture. It's a way to keep in touch with friends back home and all over the world, plus it's a corner for me to showcase my work. But really, I'm just a restless spirit looking for great adventures and fabulous food.

Delicious Japanese snacks

I am PMS-ing like hell — my sugar cravings have gone through the roof and I have found three mouth-watering snacks right here in Tokyo:

Calbee nori (seaweed) potato chips

Mala rings
(mala is a super spicy Chinese broth that is laden with lethal peppercorns and dried chilli — often used in hotpots as the soup base). Warning: this is not for the faint-hearted. I’m usually pretty tolerant of spicy food, in fact I cannot live without chilli, but these tidbits are setting my lips and tongue on fire.

I’m a loyal fan of Meiji chocolate. I love that it is not too sweet or milky. I normally pick the standard Milk Chocolate slab, but I wanted to try Meiji Noir, a new dark chocolate product that has 63 per cent cacao. Verdict: satisfies a temporary sweet tooth without too much guilt.
