Who am I...?

I'm a web editor from Singapore living in Tokyo. I'm building websites for a living as a writer on the go. I worked in print media for six years until I moved countries and used the Internet as a way to have a viable, mobile career. The Internet is a fascinating space and I never thought I would ever morph into a web chick - but here I am.

This blog is about...

...The ups and downs of expat life, trailing partner issues, food, travel, and Japanese culture. It's a way to keep in touch with friends back home and all over the world, plus it's a corner for me to showcase my work. But really, I'm just a restless spirit looking for great adventures and fabulous food.

Back in the Lion City

Howdy, I’m back in Singapore for a week-long visit. This week is also a popular week for Japanese to take summer holidays, or rather, the whole country is on the move or on leave in the month of August. I thought I would just forget a half-hearted schedule of teaching and zip home for some time with the foggies and friends.

Not much has changed except for new houses and buildings in the neighbourhood. The parents were very Chinese and interrogated me about my “career” but I palmed them off with vague answers and distracted them with the mochi desserts and organic chicken-flavoured heart-shaped dog biscuits I got.

The weather is a bit cooler in the ‘burbs here. Yati kindly cleaned up my room so it looks livable and not a storage hole. The folks have turned in before 930pm, as usual, while my elder sister is watching her Korean drama. Quiet and peaceful, my old home brings back many old memories and emotions.

It feels good to be back. Hello, again :-)
